Freshman (Beginner) Application Requirements

Students who have graduated or will graduate from secondary school but have not earned credits at a post-secondary institution should apply as a freshman (beginner) student. Students who have graduated from a secondary school and who have also earned credits at a post-secondary institution should apply as transfer students.

SAT or ACT scores with writing is strongly encouraged for international citizens. International citizens who submit an exceptional SAT Evidence-Based Reading and Writing(new), SAT Critical Reading(old), or ACT English score may be exempt from submitting additional scores.

Purdue requires all international applicants from a non-English speaking country to submit an English proficiency test score.

English proficiency can be demonstrated by submitting ONE of the following official scores:

Note: Score results must be from a test taken within the past two years. Official test scores must be received directly from the testing organization. Applicants are required to submit all the standardized test results indicated on their application. Meeting the minimum English proficiency score does not guarantee admission. A student's complete application is holistically reviewed before a decision is made.

Though not required, a letter of recommendation is strongly encouraged, especially for students eligible to be considered for scholarships, for the Honors College or for those who are applying to highly competitive programs.

 

  • Degree Required: Completion of baccalaureate or equivalent degree from a college or university of recognized standing prior to registration as a graduate student.

The best thing about on-campus Student Housing is that it’s close to everything you need. Classes, Helmke Library, the Athletics Center, and Walb Student Union are just a short walk away. When you get back, enjoy a game of volleyball before relaxing in the privacy of your individually leased apartment.

Apartments come with utilities included. They have fully furnished kitchens and living areas, cable TV, internet, and Wi-Fi. Choose from seven unique floor plans. Here are a few other amenities: multiple lounges with big-screen TVs; pool, Ping-Pong, and foosball tables; resident parking; and laundry facilities. 4 BEDROOM, 2 BATHROOM

In this apartment, you will have a private bedroom and share a bathroom with one of your roommates. This apartment comes with a furnished kitchen and living room, along with a kitchen table and pantry. Located in buildings C, D, F, and H.

This apartment is $2,586 per student per semester ($5,172 per student per year).

4 BEDROOM, 4 BATHROOM

This layout offers you a private bedroom and bathroom, as well as a large bedroom closet, furnished living room, kitchen, peninsula, and in-unit washer/dryer. Located in buildings J and M.

This apartment is $3,650 per student per semester ($7,300 per student per year).

4 BEDROOM, 2 BATHROOM

 

The shared bedroom is for two people and has a divider separating the two bed spaces and a bathroom that you will share with your roommate. The two other private bedrooms share a bathroom. The apartment comes with a furnished living room, kitchen, and kitchen peninsula. Located in buildings K and L.

This apartment is $2,465 for the shared bedroom per student per semester ($4,930 per student per year) and $2,586 for the private bedroom per student per semester ($5,172 per student per year).

2 BEDROOM, 1 BATHROOM

Enjoy private living with this apartment, which you will share with another student. You will have your own bedroom and share the bathroom with your roommate. This apartment comes with a furnished living room, kitchen, and kitchen table. Located in buildings A, B, E, and G.

This apartment is $3,125 per student per semester ($6,250 per student per year).

2 BEDROOM, 2 BATHROOM STANDARD

You and your roommate will each get a private bedroom and bathroom in this apartment, which comes with a large furnished living room, kitchen, and kitchen table. Located in buildings A, B, E, G, and I.

This apartment is $3,500 per student per semester ($7,000 per student per year).

2 BEDROOM, 2 BATHROOM DELUXE

The deluxe layout give you the features of the standard, in addition to a washer and dryer and a larger bedroom closet. This apartment comes with a furnished living room, kitchen, and peninsula. Located in buildings J and M.

This apartment is $4,150 per student per semester ($8,300 per student per year).

1 BEDROOM, 1 BATHROOM

This apartment gives you ultimate privacy. Located in buildings D and I.

This apartment is $4,938 per student per semester ($9,876 per student per year).

OFF CAMPUS—4 BEDROOM, 4 BATHROOM

These apartments are located off campus at St. Joe Place. They offer private bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as a shared kitchen and living space.

This apartment is $3,650 per student per semester ($7,300 per student per year).
